Animation of Common Core Proponent vs. Opponent

This short animated debate (that I put together) is based on an exchange of opinion pieces between Marc Tucker, a prominent proponent of Common Core Standards, and Yong Zhao, a prominent opponent, published in Washington Post's Answer Sheet. You can find the original pieces here, here, and here.

We see here not just a difference in education policy, but a difference of worldviews. Let's take a closer look:

Common Core Worldview	Progressive Education Worldview

The Big Shift sides, of course, with the progressive education camp and opposes Common Core standards. However, before we can win the education policy debate and take down Common Core, we must first win the battle over the underlying worldview. People must understand what we are for, not just what we are against. It's time that those who oppose Common Core and high stakes testing offer a coherent alternative and not just a scathing critique.
